Warm Sugar @11:30pm, Berkshire Hounds @10pm – $7 at the door @9pm. No advance tickets. 21+ only.
Berkshire Hounds formed in 2011 by roommates Jim Campo and Spencer Garland, with no genre or artistic limitations, with the only goal of raising hell and defying the norms of ladder climbing, comatose-inducing Spotify-playlist hungry amateurs. Also joining in from the start and for most of the run, Z Lynch on bass and Jordan Cook on drums. After 5 years, 3 albums, and a brewery’s worth in their bellies, they called it quits and scattered into the sideman role, found on stage with the likes of Delta Spirit’s Matthew Logan Vasquez, Black Pumas, Black Joe Lewis and the Honeybears, Nikki Lane, Isreal Nash, to name a few. Now they’ve re banded, re-branded, and are back in 2019, with their first single “Don’t Doubt The Team”. Watch for more new music this year, and new record in 2020. You want sounds, they’ve got mounds. Berkshire Hounds.
Evan and Jenny crossed paths in the fall of 2016 thanks to a few mutual friends who engineer at East Austin’s finest recording studio—fittingly named Sweetheart Studios. They formed Warm Sugar after discovering their mutual love for Doug Kershaw, R.L. Burnside, Nina Simone, Bob Dylan, and many others.
Their songs sound like they were conjured from embers of despondency to bestow solace upon those listening with aching hearts. Warm Sugar’s honest and bare-bones approach shines through their rich harmonies and breaks down the uncomfortable barrier that sometimes exists between an artist and audience.
